Adjunct Professor Yin Xiao

Professor Yin Xiao is a Distinguished Professor in Medicine and Dentistry at Griffith University. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and an Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland. He is the Director of the Australia-China Centre for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine and a group leader in regenerative medicine with a special interest in bone and tissue engineering. He obtained his BDSc and MDSc from Wuhan University (Hubei Medical University), China, with more than 10 years of clinical experience.
In 2000, he graduated with a Ph.D. from the School of Dentistry at the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia, and worked as a research officer there for two years following his graduation. This was followed by an NHMRC Peter Doherty Fellowship at the School of Life Sciences at the QUT. In 2004 he was awarded an NHMRC Visiting Fellowship for 6 months at the Bone Tissue Engineering Centre at the University of Carnegie Mellon, PA, USA. During this period (2003–2007) he was also appointed an Honorary Research Advisor to the School of Dentistry, UQ. He established a bone and tissue engineering laboratory at QUT and was appointed as a tenured Associate Professor in 2005 at QUT. In 2012 he was appointed a Full Professor in the Department of Medical Engineering at QUT and Chair of the Bone and Tissue Engineering program.
