Dr Sendall's expertise is settings-based health promotion and participatory action research. Dr Sendall has won a total of $1.6 million competitive and commercial grant dollars, and was a co-investigator on a successful competitive grant worth nearly $900,000 over 4 years to investigate sun protection strategies for outdoor workers. Additionally, she was the Principal Investigator on a successful competitive grant tender worth $120,000 over 2 years to investigate SNAPO (smoking, nutrition, alcohol, physical activity and obesity) risk factors for truck drivers.

In her most recent project, Dr Sendall worked with two Queensland bus companies and one truck company to explore innovative digital strategies to increase physical activity and improve nutrition and impact workplace health promotion policy. Recently, as a Board member, AHPA received competitive preventive health grant from the federal government worth $560,000 over 3 years.
