Dr Nathan Boase
Faculty of Science
School of Chemistry & Physics
Dr Nathan Boase is a co-lead of the Medicinal Molecules and Materials Group a collaborative team of organic, medicinal and polymer chemists, looking to understand how precision chemistry can be used to solve clinical health problems. We create new synthetic strategies, design new functional molecules and materials, and develop structure-function relationships using in depth chemical characterisation and biological evaluation.
Discipline : Chemistry
Areas of Expertise
- Synthetic Polymer Chemistry
- Nanomaterials
- Preclinical Imaging
Research Area My research focuses on using controlled radical polymerisation techniques to synthesise and characterise well defined polymeric materials. I am focused on developing smart and robust materials that can be depolyed in extreme environments, or be used for applications in biomedicine, including anti-biofouling coatings, nanomedicines and molecular imaging agents.
