Tina completed her Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) at QUT in 2019.  She is now an Accredited Practising Dietitian and a PhD candidate, working through the Woolworths Centre for Childhood Nutrition Research (WCCNR) on a community-based project working with people from refugee backgrounds.  The project uses a participatory action research design and qualitative methods which will be collaboratively designed by a steering committee of representatives from communities in South East Queensland.

The project will explore the experiences people from refugee backgrounds in the food environment to understand the barriers and facilitators to finding food, especially traditional food.  It seeks to highlight the strength, resilience, and capability of people in a trauma informed way as they access their food.  It will then create a portfolio of strategies and solutions designed by the community, for the community, which people can use to improve their access to traditional and cultural foods.

Tina enjoys working with and learning about different cultures, and has a passion for the role that food plays in health, culture, spirituality and identity.
