Siemens Biograph mMR

Allowing simultaneous acquisition of 3T MRI with PET, the PETMRI gives high resolution anatomical MRI with dynamic capabilities, fused with high specificity PET with targeted molecular information.  A large option of MRI coils and sequence suites are available at HIRF (Neurological, Body, Cardiac, Orthopaedics, Angiography, Oncology, and Breast).   The addition of MRI means higher spatial and quantitative accuracy in the PET.   The mMR is ideal for paediatric imaging, with its lack of CT related ionizing radiation.  The “quiet suite” ensures a smoother experience for children, with greater compliance.  There is improved early detection of cancers and epileptic zones, that are hard to detect on either MR or PET only systems. With improved resolution of MR, the mMR delivers important information in the staging of cancer, but can be a decisive factor in treatment planning, therapy selection and monitoring.  The MRI/PET enables organ motion to be tracked and corrected for higher-quality imaging.  MRI/PET is used by HIRF - Herston Imaging Research Facility.
