Dr Rohan Hughes

Rohan is a Research Fellow in the Contact Lens and Visual Optics Laboratory and a Sessional Academic in the School of Optometry and Vision Science. His current research is examining the effect of low dose atropine on ocular changes during accommodation in children with myopia and he is a Supervising Optometrist in the QUT Optometry Clinic, predominantly in the Myopia Control Clinic.
He completed his PhD in 2020 with his thesis entitled “Ocular characteristics of non-myopic and myopic children during relaxed and active accommodation”. His research interests include visual optics, refractive error development, and myopia management.
Rohan is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and has previously served on the Board of Optometry Queensland Northern Territory for two terms, with one as Vice President.
