Siemens Magnetom 3T Prisma

The 3-T PRISMA MRI delivers the capacity to conduct cutting-edge imaging research.  It uses radiofrequency waves and a strong magnetic field to generate detailed images of anatomy and functional information. MRI has greater sensitivity to pathology than most other forms of imaging, allowing better diagnosis, staging and treatment planning.  At HIRF, a large range of MRI coils is available, opening up research to multiple areas – such as orthopaedic and muscoskeletal (dedicated shoulder, knee, foot and ankle coils), cardiac (chest and body flex coils), and neurological (64 and 20 channel head coils), to name but a few.  The latest sequence suites are also available, as well as an extensive suite of MR compatible equipment is available, ensuring that almost any functional imaging task can be delivered. The 3-T MRI is used by HIRF - Herston Imaging Research Facility.
