Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Systems) from the University of Queensland, awarded in November 2009. For his thesis Michael took part in a group effort to develop an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to compete in the UAV Outback Challenge ( https://uavchallenge.org/) where he simultaneously developed an infrared imaging system to locate the target, and an inertial navigation system to provide the aircraft with information about the current situation. Michael is currently undertaking a Masters degree at the Queensland University of Technology to research various methods to provide more robust and accurate situational awareness to robotic platforms, while using lower cost sensors.
